Parent Ed in Term 1, 2018
A warm welcome back to returning families, and a special welcome to anyone new to the Kamaroi community.
The Parent Education program offers a chance for current and future parents, as well as members of the wider community, to learn more about Steiner Education and principles, child development and parenting; and often to deepen our awareness of ourselves and others.
Most sessions are free to attend, thanks to the generosity of the Kamaroi Parent Association. We encourage you to take advantage of as many sessions as possible. Kamaroi instills a ‘love of learning’ in our children – let’s embrace that as parents and carers.
- We are very excited to welcome Susan Perrow back to Kamaroi to kick off our program with a half day workshop. Susan has a long history with Kamaroi, and has delivered her storytelling and games workshops around the world. Book quickly as numbers are limited.
- Lou Harvey-Zahra will shed some light on the ‘Stages of Child Development and the Steiner Curriculum’ in an evening session and will also offer two half day workshops (cost associated).
- Lisa Devine will share her insights into what makes Steiner Education different and how it equips children for the modern world.
- Later in the term we have Dr Lakshmi Prasanna – topic to be confirmed.
Bookings for most sessions can be made via the links above. Lou’s workshop can be booked directly through her. Please feel free to share this program with the wider community – friends and grandparents always welcome!
Resources: In the library there is a parent section full of great resources on parenting, child development, and Steiner philosophy and education. There are also many great websites out there. My recommendation for this term is Susan Laing’s site. There you can find profiles of Child Development – for every age. It’s a great tool to refer to and many of our teachers use these profiles in Class meetings.
