Parent Education: Moving Through Childhood – What Every Parent Should Know

Friday 13th March 2015, 9.15am – 11am;
Presented by Diane Tatum.

Movement plays a central role in Steiner Education. This session will bring key perspectives to the stages of motor development, from before birth through the first years of a child’s life. We’ll explore the ways our most essential human capacities – walking, speaking and thinking – form the basis for all learning.

We’ll also endeavour to put together some of the pieces of the puzzle and make sense of questions such as:

What are etheric forces?
How are these forces ‘born’ and made accessible for learning during the ‘change of teeth’?
What are the different capacities that make for School Readiness?
How does Steiner Education approach Brain Integration and Preferred Learning Styles?
Virtual Reality vs Living Reality – how does each impact on the child?

Through gaining a lively and vivid understanding of the core principles that underlie healthy development, we can support the growth and development of our children’s life-forces and foster their budding imaginations. This session will be of interest to those new to Steiner Education as well as those wishing to deepen their understanding of its principles. It is of relevance to parents, teachers and carers of children 0 – 12 years old.
